The Corolla is the flattest record in this dataset. Eleven of its twelve scored
years grade C, none of them is flagged, and the gap between its best and worst
non-flagged year is smaller than on almost any comparable model. For a buyer,
that means the model year matters less here than it does almost anywhere else
on this site — with one exception.
The 2010 car is that exception, at 3.95 times the model’s own median on 879
complaints. Steering leads at 322 reports, speed control follows at 161 and
braking at 141, and it carries 128 crash allegations and seventeen weighted
recall campaigns — the most of any Corolla year here. It sits inside the period
of Toyota’s unintended-acceleration recalls, and the steering group is a
separate matter of record from the same years. The median odometer reading on
those reports is about 4,650 miles.
From 2011 the file settles and stays settled. Airbags and restraints leads most
years from 2013 onward, which across this period usually reflects the Takata
inflator campaigns rather than anything particular to this car.
2012 and 2021 are its quietest years, at 99 and 200 complaints.
